Dr. Kris Alexander is a leading authority in video game design, educational technology integration, simulation & training and trauma-informed interactive media. As a tenured Associate Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University and Director of the Red Bull Gaming Hub, his work explores the synergy between immersive digital solutions and real-world problem-solving.

A central pillar of Dr. Alexander’s research is Techquity (Technological Equity), an institutional framework focused on closing equity gaps through the use of accessible, high-impact technologies to ensure digital literacy is available to all, regardless of socioeconomic status.

His pedagogical approach, Targeted Pedagogy, blends AI-powered tools with gamified achievement systems to create precise, motivating learning environments. His work has garnered international recognition, including a TED Talk with over 1.8 million views and keynotes at global summits for companies like Contentful, Epic Games, LearnUpon, and various workshops for the Toronto District School Board and Grand Erie District School Boards.

Beyond his work in public safety, he leads major simulations for industry standards, such as the ASHRAE HVAC Hero training simulator with the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, and oversees a “university-as-studio” model that generates licensable white-label frameworks for diverse professional applications.
