eCampusOntario Partners with Five Institutions to Advance Digital Fluency in Postsecondary Education

Toronto, ON — eCampusOntario announced today five new partnerships to boost digital fluency. The partnerships, with Algoma University, Université de Sudbury, First Nations Technical Institute, Collège Boréal, and Loyalist College will equip educators with the skills needed to thrive in today’s evolving digital teaching and learning environment.

Available at learn.ecampusontario.ca, eCampusOntario’s professional development programs are designed to help educators navigate AI’s impact on education, enhance online teaching practices, and integrate emerging technologies into their classrooms.

Educators will be able to collaborate with peers throughout the province to explore emerging technologies and pedagogical practices for effective online and technology-enabled teaching. Upon completion, educators can showcase their professional growth on LinkedIn and social media with digital badges and micro-credentials which confirm their knowledge and achievements.

“As technology reshapes how we teach and how students learn, our partnerships with Algoma University, Université de Sudbury, Collège Boréal, First Nations Technical Institute, and Loyalist College ensure faculty have the skills, tools, and confidence to thrive in a digital-first environment,” said Robert Luke, CEO, eCampusOntario. “When we invest in educators’ growth, we empower learners to succeed in the future of work.”

“In the age of artificial intelligence, pedagogical transformation begins with people,” said Paulette Bonin, Vice President Academic, Collège Boréal. “It comes to life through dedicated educators who guide, support, and inspire students. The Empowered Educator program empowers faculty across Collège Boréal’s eight campuses to confidently prepare the next generation of francophone graduates for a digital future.”

“By advancing educators’ digital fluency, we’re strengthening the foundation of Ontario’s future workforce,” said Brett Goodwin, Vice President Academic and Research, Algoma University. “eCampusOntario’s training programs give instructors the tools and confidence to integrate modern technology, build accessible learning environments, and respond to fast‑moving trends like AI and automation. This partnership ensures Algoma University’s students are better prepared to adapt and succeed in a rapidly changing world.”

“Our partnership with eCampusOntario strengthens our shared commitment to empowering Indigenous learners and the educators who support them,” said Adam Hopkins, Senior Vice-President, Academic, First Nations Technical Institute (FNTI). “These professional learning programs help build a more adaptable and equitable postsecondary system—one that ensures educators have the tools they need to guide all learners through the digital economy.”

“Our collaboration with eCampusOntario reflects our shared commitment to providing the best education experience for learners in Ontario,” said Serge Miville, President and Vice Chancellor de l’Université de Sudbury. “We’re helping build a more agile and resilient postsecondary system, one that empowers learners in every corner of the province to succeed in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

“The Empowered Educator micro-credential supports Loyalist College’s commitment to continuous professional learning by equipping educators with the skills and confidence to teach effectively in digitally enabled environments,” said Amanda Baskwill, Senior Vice President Academic and Chief Learning Officer, Loyalist College. “By partnering with eCampusOntario, we are helping educators lead change, experiment with emerging technologies, and deliver meaningful learning in digital-first environments.”
