eCampusOntario launches new matchmaking platform supporting virtual learning content development
This past week, eCampusOntario announced the launch of Ontario Exchange (OEX), formerly the Central Virtual Learning Platform (CVLP). This next generation of the innovative matchmaking tool connects postsecondary institutions with the service providers and expertise they need in virtual learning and content creation services. Ontario Exchange provides publicly assisted colleges, universities and Indigenous institutes with in-demand services, such as instructional designers, multimedia/virtual reality developers, and learning management system (LMS) integrators, filling gaps in existing capacity.
“We are very excited to provide this service that will help expand top-quality virtual learning output in Ontario”, says Robert Luke, CEO, eCampusOntario. “Ontario Exchange also helps level the playing field, giving institutions of all sizes access to the content creation resources they need.”
Ontario Exchange will support Ontario educators by finding the right skills and expertise to complement and extend in-house efforts, as well as enhancing budgets by offsetting the costs of external service providers.
Educators can submit their projects as Expressions of Interest (EOI) through the Ontario Exchange website. Selected projects can connect with a choice of pre-qualified and contracted service providers, simplifying what can otherwise be a lengthy process for participants. Funded by the Government of Ontario’s Virtual Learning Strategy initiative, Ontario Exchange covers the external vendor costs of projects approved through the platform. Pre-qualified vendors, contracted through the Call for Qualified Service Providers, are paid directly by eCampusOntario.
Projects that do not require funding support can still access Ontario Exchange vendors through the Fast Track directory service, which provides skills-based matches based on supplied project criteria.
