Dr. Sasha Thackaberry-Voinovich founded Newstate University in 2026, bringing over two decades of leadership in higher education and innovation. She previously served as President of SkillsWave, an education benefit company spun off from D2L, where she led the Wave team and D2L for Business. Earlier roles include Vice President for Student and Partner Services at Pearson, inaugural Vice President for Online and Continuing Education at Louisiana State University, Assistant Vice President for Academic Technology at Southern New Hampshire University, and District Director for eLearning Technologies at Cuyahoga Community College.

She has consulted for Fortune 500 companies, colleges, and K-12 districts, and serves on the Quality Matters Board. Her new book, How to Grow Enrollment in Online Higher Education: Marketing and Recruitment, is published by Routledge. A recognized thought leader, she has written widely and earned awards for innovation and excellence. She holds a PhD in higher education administration, MAT from Kent State, and BFA in Dance from the University of Akron.
