eCampusOntario launches Open Textbook Library

In partnership with eCampusOntario, the Honourable Deb Matthews announced the Province of Ontario’s commitment to developing and providing free and low-cost open textbooks to post-secondary students at colleges and universities throughout the province.

The recently announced Ontario Open Textbook Initiative will focus on Ontario specific content where the most significant impact and cost-savings for students can be realized. BCcampus, eCampusOntario’s counterpart in British Columbia, has been a pioneer in the open textbook arena since 2003.

In four years alone, BCcampus’ Open Textbook Library has helped learners save over an estimated $4 million. eCampusOntario’s Open Textbook Library features 180 textbooks from the BCcampus library, aligned with the most highly enrolled first and second year courses.
