eCampusOntario Board of Directors Student Position

The eCampusOntario Board of Directors is seeking nominations for the following position:

  • Three currently-enrolled students with online learning or technology-enabled learning experience, one from each of the following types of publicly-assisted Ontario institutions:
    • College
    • Indigenous Institute
    • University

About eCampusOntario

eCampusOntario is a not-for-profit corporation whose membership is composed of publicly-assisted Indigenous Institutes, Colleges and Universities in Ontario. eCampusOntario is governed by a Board of Directors with tripartite leadership from each postsecondary sector. Operations are headed by a Chief Executive Officer. Funding for the eCampusOntario initiative comes from the governments of Ontario and Canada.

The organization works to support sector innovation, collaboration and digital-by-design learning. We provide the platforms, programs and services to advance digital participation in postsecondary education, connecting Ontario’s postsecondary institutions and learners to the future of learning and the future of work.

Board of Directors

eCampusOntario is governed by a 17 (voting) member Board of Directors with representation from Ontario Indigenous Institutes, colleges and universities.

  • One President of an Indigenous Institute;
  • One President of a College;
  • One President of a University
  • Two Vice Presidents Academic (or equivalent) of a University;
  • Two Vice Presidents Academic (or equivalent) of a College;
  • One member of an Indigenous Institute
  • Three students with experience in online or technology-enabled learning, one of whom is currently enrolled in an Indigenous Institute, another in a College, and one of whom is currently enrolled in a University.
  • Two senior administrators with expertise in online learning, one of whom is employed at a College and one of whom is employed at a University
  • Two online learning experts, one of whom is employed at a College and one of whom is employed at a University;
  • Two representatives of the public, one of whom has experience in financial, audit and/or risk management.

The eCampusOntario Board also has six ex-officio, or non-voting, representatives.

  • A representative from ONCAT
  • A representative from Contact North
  • A representative from IIC
  • A representative from IAESC
  • A representative from Colleges Ontario
  • A representative from Council of Ontario Universities

Role of Board Members

The eCampusOntario Board of Directors meets five times annually to provide oversight and contribute to the strategic direction of the organization. It is expected that Directors will come to meetings prepared to engage in discussion. Directors serve without remuneration. All meetings are virtual with the exception of the June Board Retreat. All Directors serve a three-year term, with an option to renew once.

Board members act as organizational ambassadors in their respective sector areas, and from time to time connect the organization with advice, resources and expertise as appropriate to help strengthen eCampusOntario initiatives and strategic guidance.

An interested eligible student will bring their expertise and experience as students to the Board of Directors. The candidate will have an awareness of current trends in virtual and technology-enabled learning, and ideally have experience in the same. A background or current studies in teaching and learning is an asset.
