Dominique Scheffel-Dunand is an Associate Professor at York University (Toronto), where she has worked for over 20 years in the fields of bilingualism, Plurilinguism in multicultural classrooms, French language teaching and second language acquisition in minority contexts, as well as technology-enhanced education with emerging tools. Her career has led her beyond traditional learning frameworks to lead inter-institutional projects that foster the co-creation of open and inclusive educational resources across the K-12 to postsecondary continuum—most notably through the Camerise project, which she has co-directed since 2020 for the FSL community in Ontario, and through the Camerise Training & Research sub-project launched in 2025 to strengthen synergies and collaborations across the M-12 and postsecondary sectors in response to the shortage of FSL/FLA teachers in Ontario and Canada. Actively engaged in international initiatives in open education, she also mentors projects within the Open Education for a Better World (OE4BW) program, fostering exchanges across cultures and disciplines on issues of accessibility, collaborative academic practices, and the integration of AI into professional practices in a global and local context. She advocates for open and equitable learning communities where students, educators, and researchers connect to transform access to knowledge in sustainable ways.
